WRINKLE REJUVENATION WITH BOTOX
Wrinkles are the tell-tale marks of the aging process. They can result from sun damage, environmental
factors, damaging free radicals and gravitational force. We also see wrinkles appear from repeated
muscle action on the face which leads to wrinkle formation around the eyes, mouth and forehead.
Botox, or botulinum toxin, is a medication that produces temporary weakening of muscles. For facial
rejuvenation, we use Botox to decrease the motion of the facial muscles that create wrinkles or
unpleasant expressions, such as the vertical lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.
Botox can stop the formation of wrinkle lines and improve the appearance of existing lines.
Injected in very small amounts Botox relaxes the muscles. Injection prevents the release of acetylcholine
at the nerve muscle junction and thus prevents muscle contraction. This will lead to temporary relaxation
of the muscles and results in improvement of the dynamic wrinkles of the face and neck. Muscle
weakness starts from 24 -48 hours after injection but the clinical improvement will be seen 7-10 days
after treatment. The treatment last for 4- 5 months and repeated treatment is necessary to maintain the
results.

FILLERS
Fillers such as Juvederm are derived from various chemicals and the most common form is hyaluronic acid, which naturally exists in living organisms and is found naturally in abundance in youthful skin. Fillers are mainly used for volume loss in the face and are the recommended treatment for deep wrinkles.
Fillers are materials that we use to fill in lines or areas that lose volume due to age or from sagging skin and soft tissue. They can also be used to build up the cheekbones and fill in the hollow areas under the eyes, plump the lips, or to reshape the nose. Injected carefully into the skin or under the skin, they fill out tissues and restore a sense of youthfulness. Results from most fillers are instant, and results last from several months to years depending on the material used and where it is injected.
When injected into the tissues, the hyaluronic acid absorbs water and causes plumping of the tissues.
The result is the filling of deep wrinkles, the beautiful pout of the lips and smooth and youthful appearing skin. The results may last for up to 12 months. The effect is immediate and repeated treatments are necessary to maintain the results.
